Tree Health and Condition Assessment

A Tree Health and Condition Assessment provides informed recommendations for management and risk mitigation of trees.

A Tree Health and Condition Assessment is a professional evaluation to understand a tree's current state, identify any problems it might have (whether health-related or structural), assess any potential risks it poses, and provide informed advice on how to manage it effectively in our unique environmental context. It's all about keeping your trees healthy and safe.

ArborEcological provides Tree Health and Condition Assessments throughout the Lismore, Tweed, Byron, Kyogle, Ballina and Grafton areas plus South East Queensland.

  • A visual tree inspection can be conducted as a pre-emptive measure to give you peace of mind or as part of a more comprehensive report.

A Visual Tree Assessment is the first thing our fully insured and qualified AQF Level 5 Arborists will do on site.

The arborist will inspect at the whole tree – the trunk for any cracks, decay, or pest infestations like borers. They'll check the branches for deadwood, signs of disease like fungal growth or leaf spot, and the overall structure for any weaknesses or potential hazards.

They'll also look at the foliage – is it the right colour? Is the growth healthy? Are there signs of stress like wilting or premature leaf drop, which could be due to drought, poor soil, or root issues.

  • Soils throughout the South East Queensland and Norther New south Wales regions can be quite variable.

Our AQF Level 5 Arborist will investigate the soil around the tree's base. They'll consider drainage (important after heavy downpours and storms), compaction (often an issue in urban areas and development sites), and sometimes even take samples to check nutrient levels or pH, especially if the tree isn't thriving.

  • This is crucial for safety, especially in areas prone to strong winds or where trees are near buildings or public spaces. Our AQF Level 5 Arborists will assess the tree's form, looking for things like weak branch unions, excessive lean, or signs of instability that could lead to significant branch failure. They will also conducted searches for internal decay.

  • As part of a general health and condition assessment you may find in beneficial for our Arborists to perform a the risk assessment. The Arborist will evaluate the probability of a tree or its parts failing and the severity of potential consequences, especially important for trees near high-traffic zones or property in particular homes, public spaces and schools.

Subsequently, your Arborist will offer tailored recommendations, which can span from routine maintenance like deadwood pruning and irrigation adjustments to more involved interventions such as pest and disease treatment, soil enhancement, or, when necessary due to significant hazard or irreversible decline, tree removal.
